I have rescued many animals over the years, and it doesn't look like it's going to stop anytime soon!
I wish I had more pictures of past rescues, but in the meantime, here are some of the animals that I have recently taken under my wing.
"Desi"
(Formerly "Mugsy")
This beautiful American Bulldog was found wandering the streets of Sacramento. He had thick, heavy chains around his neck, and no ID tags. No one claimed him despite several found ads. Me and some co-workers took him to the Roseville SPCA where nearly lost his life after failing a behavioral test. When we heard he was to be euthanized, we bailed him out. After having him neutered, vaccinated, heartworm tested and well socialized, he was able to find himself a wonderful new family. He now stays with Lori in Sacramento, CA and her lab mix "Lucy". They are in love with him, and are so thankful to have him in their lives.

This little doll was brought into my work by a young man who couldn't afford her treatment. His wife had been feeding her human infant formula instead of kitten milk. She was hypothermic upon arrival, her gums were white, she was skin and bones and as limp as a ragdoll. Her eyes were crusted shut with infection, and she had green boogers seeping from her nostrils. I told him that if she wasn't treated immediately she wouldn't make it. He then said that he had a sledge hammer in his trunk, and he'd go home and put her out of her misery. I was shocked! I then asked him if he would surrender the kitten to me so I could take over her care. He agreed, and now she is on her way to recovery! The night of her rescue she was immediately placed on a heating pad, given sub-Q fluids and fed. She is now on oral antibiotics, eye ointment, and kitten milk replacer. She's been de-wormed and given flea control as well. She is already doing great! She's a little miracle.
"PIPER"
Adopted!!!

This little darling was left on the back door of the Vet hospital I work at. She was dropped off in a small shoebox and was so cold she was nearly hypothermic by the time we got to her. She was between 2 1/2 and 3 weeks old at the time. She was quite the survivor, and ate like crazy from a bottle. She had fleas, but was otherwise very healthy. She was de-flead, de-wormed and went to her new home right at about 6 weeks of age. She was so much fun to raise! Her new family adores her and have provided her with a wonderful home. They decided to keep her name Piper.
"YAHTZEE"
ADOPTED 7-18-2006!
Congratulations Yahtzee!!!
This cute little guy was brought into my work by passing pedestrians. He must have been 7 weeks old or so. He came right up to them, and because they were passing a Veterinary office, they brought him in and asked if someone could take him. I was his only hope or he'd be off to the pound. So, I am currently fostering him.
He was skin and bones, and had severe diarrhea. Turns out that he had a heavy tapeworm infection and was covered in fleas. He also had coccidia and earmites.
I had him for about 5 weeks, and he was such a doll! I'll miss him, but I am happy that he has found a great family of his own now.
